Coil Springs

All Ironman 4x4 coil springs have been carefully designed to provide a safe, comfortable ride while also providing additional ground clearance. Ironman coil springs are made from the finest silicon manganese spring steel available.

Ironman Coil Springs

Choosing the Right Spring

Leaf Springs (A): Will provide some lift from standard and used where comfort is preferred rather than firm control. This design is best suited to light or no load applications.

Coil and Leaf Springs (B): Ride will be firmer than original by around 20% and suits light to medium loads. This spring is recommended when the given load may be occasional or temporary. Excellent for vehicles which have some 4x4 accessories fitted.

Coil and Leaf Springs (C): Will provide excellent support for vehicle's carrying constant heavy loads. Suitable when multiple heavy accessories or steel tray's / toolboxes fitted. These springs should be avoided when vehicle has light or no load present.

Leaf Springs (D): Extra heavy duty springs designed to support heavier constant loads when heavy accessories are combined with heavy payloads.

Torsion Bars

Produced from thicker premium grade micro alloy steel, Ironman 4x4 Torsion Bars feature cold forged spline ends, preset directional rotation, and have undergone the most extensive testing proceedure before completion. Ideally matched for the typical increase in accesory weight over the front of your vehicle.

  • Thicker bar diameter than original to improve ride & handling.

Ironman Torsion Bars are thicker than standard torsion bars fitted as original equipment. Original equipment torsion bars are designed to carry the weight of the vehicle as designed by their manufacturer. The adjustment incorporated in torsion bar vehicles is not intended to be used to compensate for carrying additional load.

Additional 4X4 accessories such as a bull bar, winches and dual battery kit places enormous stress on standard torsion bars.

Being uprated (thicker spring steel) Ironman torsion bars enhance ride comfort by controlling suspension travel whether carrying additional accessories or a full load of passengers.

Ironman torsion bars will make your 4X4 safer while providing more comfortable cornering and braking efficiency. All Ironman torsion bars have upset forged ends and are pre-set to minimise sag.

Nitro Gas Shocks

Ironman 35mm Bore Nitro Gas Shocks are a rugged, all round 4X4 performance shock absorber.

Ironman Nitro Gas Shocks

35mm Bore & Piston

Larger than the original equipment size, an increased oil capacity and larger valve surface area provide a well balanced all round improvement. Matched with a 54mm outer body, available for all makes and models of vehicles.

15mm Piston Rod

Volumetrically matched to the 35mm piston and bore, provides maximum strength without occupying excess internal space. Double chrome hardened to resist damage by scratches and impact.

Multi-Lip Hi Temp Seal

A feature of all Ironman 4X4 Shock Absorbers is the High quality NOK seal which features 4 blades to lock in the oil and gas whilst blocking out the dirt. Leaking shock absorbers are history!

Nitrogen Gas Charged

A low pressure shot of Nitrogen Gas is compressed and contained within the Shock Absorber chambers, this pressurises the oil molecules and helps prevent cavitation, which is commonly refered to as shock fade.

Nitro Gas Struts

For 4X4 vehicles with strut type suspension systems, Ironman 4X4 Struts incorporate all the features of the Nitro Gas version, with the freedom of the unique height adjusting collar ring system.

Ironman Shock Absorbers

Each and every Ironman shock absorber is force velocity tested before packaging to ensure all parts received are uniform and within operating specification. High quality materials such as German Fuchs High temp shock absorber fluid, Japanese NOK multilip seals are used. Strength and durability requirements are sorted by the use of re-enforced single piece eye rings and stems. Rubber shock absorber bushes are used by Ironman, this is to promote maximum flexibility and reduction in unwanted side load and NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) transmission which often causes seal failures in other brand shock absorbers using Polyurethane.

41mm Bore & Piston

Extra large oil capacity and massive piston surface area allow more oil than ever before and the abilty for Ironman to fine tune the valve performance with greater accuracy. Perfectly matched to larger size vehicles where space permits

18mm Piston Rod

Volumetrically matched to the 41mm bore and piston. Maximum strength and rigidity for long stroke and high load applications. Double chrome hardened for protection against damage.

Larger Oil Capacity

50% more oil than the Nitro Gas Shock Absorber. More oil means more heat absorption resulting in longer lasting efficiancy. High quality German Fuchs shock absorber fluid.

Foam Cell Technology

A gas impregnated sheet of Closed Cell Foam is positioned inside the shock absorber to replace the floating gas. This separates the oil and gas, allowing full oil contact with the outer casing to radiate heat away from the shock absorber more effectively.

Steering Damper

Ironman Steering Dampers are designed to vastly improve steering control of your vehicle. These dampers feature a 35mm diameter piston and bore. All Ironman steering dampers are valved 50/50 to allow for smooth operation and are ready to mount without modification to your 4x4.

Choosing the Right Shock Absorber

Nitro Gas: Twin Tube 35mm Bore and Piston. These shock absorbers are best suited to medium and heavy loads. Vehicle will become firmer and more responsive. Will provide excellent resistance to body roll when cornering.

Nitro Gas Soft Ride: Twin Tube 35mm Bore and Piston. These shock absorbers are available for selected vehicle's where comfort is preferred rather than firm control. The softer valving is best suited to light or no load applications.

Foam Cell: Twin Tube 41mm Bore and Piston. These shock absorbers provide similar feel to the Nitro Gas GR shock absorber. The Foam Cell shock absorber features a larger piston and bore size to allow for more oil capacity which allows the shock absorber to operate cooler in rough offroad conditions or long haul corrugations.

Ironman Polyurethane Spring and Offset Caster Bushes

Polyurethane Spring Bushes

Ironman Polyurethane Bushes feature a unique high density injection moulded polyurethane material, providing precise location and a durable bearing surface for your leaf springs, making them very durable in hot temperatures whilst providing a soft and comfortable vehicle ride.

All Ironman spring bushes also feature the special spiral and flange grooves (incorporated grooves and spiral bore rifel) to distribute lubricating grease evenly throughout the bushing surface when combined with greasable shackles and pins.

Adjustable Offset Caster Bushes

  • Three way adjustable.
  • High density injection moulded Polyurethane.
  • Easier to fit.

Ironman Adjustable Offset Caster Bushes are made from a high density injection moulded Polyurethane and laser cut notched Steel Tube.

Easy to fit and adjustable to 3 different settings, Standard, 2.5 Degree & 3.5 Degree. Adjustment is achieved by the rotation position of the inner steel tube.

Caster angle is the backward or forward tilt of the differential steering axis. Positive caster is needed in most applications within front suspension 4x4 vehicles.

When a vehicle is lifted via raised springs, this positive angle is reduced. The reduced caster angle will detract feeling and response through the steering wheel. This will also cause reduced self-centering and possible wheel shimmy in extreme cases.

The offset in the bushes will tilt the differential (positive) back toward manufacturers specification thus greatly improved handling and feel. Highly recommended for raised height 4x4's up to 75mm lift to permanently cure vehicle wonder.

Shackles & Pins

Ironman Pins and Shackles

Ironman 4x4 Suspension was the first company in the world to recognise the importance of greasable shackles and pin kits. The reason for the introduction of greasable kits was that polyurethane bushes will provide extra long life if they are greased.

Ironman shackle and pin kits are perfectly matched to be fitted with Ironman polyurethane bushes and come complete with protected grease nipples, recessed nuts and washers.

To enhance appearance and make them rust resistant, Ironman greasable shackle and pin kits have been zinc rich coated.
